On the outskirts of Chichester is the Goodwood Estate which is home to the Duke of Richmond. The estate includes the famous Racecourse, Goodwood House, Sculpture Park and Goodwood Motor Racing circuit. Each summer it hosts the world famous Festival of Speed and Revival events. Nearby is the Rolls Royce motor car factory.
Amongst the smaller settlements in West Sussex are Arundel which has the famous 11th Century Arundel Castle, home to the Duke of Norfolk and the Norfolk Estate.
Other smaller settlements include Billingshurst, Petworth, Steyning, Storrington and Midhurst, which is part of the 'Cowdray' Estate and famous for Polo in the summer months.
